Jean Stokes, a former art lecturer, is giving a series of talks establishing the basic elements of the styles that have dominated Western Art from the Renaissance until our present period of contemporary art. This will provide a firm basis for viewing paintings, sculpture, architecture and design within an historical context.

So often superb television programmes and gallery exhibitions present amazing art and design but it is seen in isolation and the simple aim of my talks is to give you a progression line on which to place these individuals and movements within the context of an ever developing visual language.
