Welcome to Boldon and District u3a
Our Motto is Learn, Laugh, Live
About the u3a
The u3a (formerly the "university of the 3rd age") was set up 40 years ago for those who, whilst no longer in full time employment, still enjoy:
- learning: for its own sake and for fun, and
- sharing their own skills and knowledge with others.
The UK's u3as are split between 12 geographical areas. Boldon u3a is part of Northumbria Region.

A message from our chair, Shirley Walkinshaw
u3a uniquely gives retired or semi-retired people the opportunity to meet and make new friends while sharing interests with the chance to learn new ones.
Lifelong learning is the key, but not as we know it from our past life, there are no exams, no qualifications are sought, no expectation to achieve, no competition. With enjoyment being a prime motive you select the interest group/s that suits you, and join it. Members are also invited to start new groups bringing together those with similar interests.
Enjoy being part of a u3a, building friendships, being part of the u3a world. Becoming enthusiastic and curious can have a powerful influence on our wellbeing.
